Belfast Giants sign former Glasgow Clan defenceman Jason Fram

Belfast Giants have signed defenceman Jason Fram for the rest of the 2026/27 season. The Vancouver-born player arrives with Elite League experience from Glasgow Clan and an international career that includes representing China at the Winter Olympics.

Fram, 31, registered 28 points across 67 appearances for Glasgow, helping the Clan reach Playoff Finals Weekend for the first time in 12 years.

Giants head coach Adam Keefe pointed to Fram’s mobility and knowledge of the league as reasons he should settle quickly. Keefe said: “Jason is a very mobile defenceman who has a good hockey IQ. His experience and understanding of this league make the transition easy.”

Experience across three continents

Before entering the Elite League, Fram played more than 240 games for clubs in North America, China and Italy. His teams included Asiago, KRS-BSU Beijing, Kunlin Red Star, Allen Americans and San Jose Barracuda.

His university career brought 61 points from 69 regular-season appearances for Alberta’s Golden Bears across three seasons between 2016 and 2019. He twice earned USports All-Canadian First Team honours and twice won the USports Defenceman of the Year award. He also won the USports University Cup in 2018.

For China, Fram has played 13 times, with four appearances coming at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. His international honours include World Championship Division II gold and Division I bronze in 2022/23.

Fram said his experience in the league had already given him an understanding of Belfast’s team. He said: “Playing in the league, you know how the team operates, and I’ve only heard great things about the organisation, city, and fans. I can’t wait to hit the ground running and get things going.”
