Police warn public not to approach prisoner who escaped Lewisham medical unit
Police are searching for Anthony Lloyd, 38, after he forced his way out of a Lewisham medical unit. Anyone who sees him should call 999.
Police are searching for prisoner Anthony Lloyd after he forced his way out of a medical unit in Lewisham, south London, on Friday 23 October. The Metropolitan Police warned people not to approach the 38-year-old and to call 999 if they see him, quoting CAD4739/23Oct.
Lloyd was last spotted at about 4.10pm, heading towards Catford, according to Belfast Telegraph. Officers believe he could be anywhere in London.
He is described as white, about 5ft 8in tall and of medium build, with short dark hair. He was wearing a grey-blue T-shirt, black tracksuit bottoms and white trainers.
Detective Superintendent Melanie Pressley, who is leading the search, said: “We are concerned he poses a risk both to himself and the public, and would urge anyone who sees him to call 999 immediately. Do not approach him.”
Lloyd also has connections to Surrey, Sussex, Thames Valley, Hampshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Merseyside.
The Press Association understands he was convicted in 2025 of actual bodily harm following an incident involving three emergency workers in Nottinghamshire. He was given a 12-month prison sentence and was moved from prison to the Lewisham medical facility in September.
